The ‘magic’ of a vision board — My first magaine cover.

The cover of Physique Magazine, September 2012, I achieved the biggest goal at that point of my fitness and training career.

Here’s the story of how creating my first digital vision board led to this ‘pinch-me-please’ day.

I was preparing for the WBBF world championships in Toronto, Canada after I attained my pro athlete status earlier in May of 2012, in Denmark. For three years leading up to this point, I was competing non-stop in fitness pageants all over the world, building my coaching practice - then GloryGirl Fitness - and working hard at submitting articles as a freelance writer to fitness publications worldwide.

Creating a vision board has always been part of my coaching strategy work-shopping with my clients on their journeys towards their goals, and this was the time when ipads became a hot accessory.

Making the vision board your home screen on your phone, tablet or computer makes it visible numerous times a day.

I decided I wanted to trial a digital version of a vision board and created 4 simple frames to add images and words to. The one particular frame contained a cover of a fitness magazine and the words I used were; “The media (meaning editors and journos) comes to me as the go-to expert in my field” My goal at that time was to build social credibility and instead of me seeking out opportunities, as I’ve done for much of my career, I wanted publishing and media opportunities to effortlessly come to me.

And then…

A day, meaning 24 hours after I created this digital vision board (which sadly I’ve lost due to life transitions and not backing up to the cloud 🙄) I received a direct message on Twitter of all places, from the editor of Physique Magazine. 🤯. I’m paraphrasing, but he asked for my availability for the next month as they wanted to shoot me for the cover of Physique Magazine. Boom. Just like that!

I was gobsmacked, it was completely out of the blue and unexpected! I shared the cover with my friend, Lee Ryan, which was the start of many incredible opportunities for both of us.

This settled it for me and I decided from then on that I’ll regularly create a vision board to accompany the goals and intentions that I have for my future. And I can assure you that it wasn’t the last time that it happened…

Till next time, thank you for your presence.

I love and appreciate you,

Nadine
