My Vision Board led to a Magazine Cover and more!
If creating a vision board sounds like it falls into the whoo-whoo, aerie-fairy, cotton candy dream category, then call me a believer of whoo-whoo, aerie-fairy, cotton candy dreams! Creating a vision board for specific goals and life dreams has led to some of the most incredible experiences that I could only ever dream of.
This is the story of how I manifested being on the cover of Women’s Health magazine (at 35 years young!) by creating this vision board 6 months before it actually happened. 👇🏽🤩
I created this digital vision board in June of 2015 while feeling a little out of shape - emotionally and physically - after a year of injuries and just feeling blah. I wanted to train and feel like an athlete and also travel again. I was a flight attendant for almost seven years in my 20’s and in this specific season of my life (2014-2015) I didn’t travel much and then of course, just for fun, I added the cover of Women’s Health on there, because “why not”? Check out the left upper corner 😉.
Shortly after this vision board was added as the background image of my phone, these events started to take shape:
High performance, athletic physique goals: I was cast in a reality TV show in July 2015, called White Collar DXB. A reality show where people who have never boxed before, learned how to box AND fight in a boxing match in the span of 8 weeks! (I also became a coach and mentor for seasons 2 and 3!). Not only did I discover a new sport that I absolutely loved, but my body transformed within 3 months from the vigorous boxing training AND without having to adopt a super strict diet that I was used to during my fitness model years. Score!
The Cover of Women’s Health magazine goal: After winning my final fight on fight night in October of 2015, I was invited to do a photoshoot for Women’s Health magazine for an article about the show. I didn’t suspect that it would be anything more than just the coverage of all the amazing girls who competed with me, butttt then I had the surprise of my life when I saw myself on the cover of Women’s Health, December 2015!
(The date on the above vision board was the screenshot I took for the Women’s Health interview to show the editor how cool it was to have WH on my vision board, 18 Nov 2015. 😉)
Travel and adventure goals: After this cover came about, it was as if the universe unleashed its gifts and the world of social media became a popular scene, which I figured out somehow, and I got to travel the world on fully paid, 5 star media trips, promoting the most stunning destinations, almost every month for the next 3 years! Below are some moments from the Maldives, Montenegro, Switzerland, Sri Lanka, Austria, Zanzibar, Ireland, Seychelles and England. (I feel very, very blessed and grateful to be able to share this with you.)
It’s so much fun looking back at these experiences and share with you how they came to life.
My coaching strategy involves a vision creation session and it always, always turns out to be a creative and loving challenge for my clients AND also sooo rewarding! I have so many manifestation stories to share with you and will do so in the future.
But I want to leave you with some important principles to keep in mind when you create your vision board (also called dream board, mood board, bucket list etc).
Choose the areas of your life that you want to experience change in.
Create a vision board that you will be able to see multiple times during the day. Choose images, quotes and words that inspire you to take action in those areas.
I love using the phrase; Inspired Action. Inspired action feels good and leads to purpose-driven moments. Taking inspired action moves us into the direction of growth. The question to ask is: “Is this action taking me closer or further away from my ideal situation?” I trust that you will know what to do with the answer to that 😉.
Say “Yes!”. Say yes to experiences and people that come your way “coincidentally” after you’ve created your vision board, even if it’s not something that you would ordinarily do. Those experiences may lead to incredible surprises!
Share your vision board with people who support you and cheer you on. Allow them to be witnesses on your adventure to transformation.
Every time you look at your vision board, create thoughts and energy of excitement, of fun, of “how amazing will it be to…” in your body. Let every cell experience this delicious vibration of child-like wonder.
Finally, the MOST IMPORTANT POINT. Pratice non-attatchment. See it as a fun experiment and let the water flow where it needs to flow. Feeling anxious or obsessive about your goals will most likely turn into an “Abort Mission” scenario for your nervous system. In my experience, when I take a light-hearted approach to create my vision boards, that’s when the magic happens!
Here’s a short little video to show you how I create a vision board using the Canva app.
That’s the end of my story, beautiful heart, my intention sharing with you is to bring a spark of inspiration to your world today. Know that it is possible to call the life that your heart is yearning for into existence. Please remember that it’s a practice, just like brushing our teeth and taking regular showers to purify our bodies, it’s a daily practice to direct our thoughts and emotions toward what we want to create in our reality.
I love and appreciate you, dear one.
Nadine
